politician rejects sobriety test during prime minister's interrogation in Brasília, presents wallet and is escorted out
Brasília's Raucous Night 🌃
Deputy District Daniel Donizet (MDB) found himself in a sticky situation during a late-night escapade in Riacho Fundo I. The night of Thursday, June 26th, saw military police officers pulling over a Nissan Frontier, driven by none other than the local politician, for reckless driving.
Residents had flagged the pickup truck for making dangerous maneuvers on district roads, leading to a call from concerned motorists to the PM. Upon stopping the vehicle, the officers discovered a bottle of beer inside and suspected inebriation.
The ensuing interaction was nothing short of combative, with Deputy Donizet initially refusing to take the breathalyzer test. He flashed his badge, but the officers remained firm. Desperate to avoid the ticket, he even attempted to use his political connections, calling other authorities.
However, the parliamentarian's attempts at manipulation went unsuccessful. Equipped with the necessary tools and undeterred by Donizet's antics, the officers continued with the sobriety test. When the equipment arrived, Donizet refused to cooperate. Unphased, the officers issued the ticket, as per Article 165-A of the Brazilian Traffic Code.
Among Donizet's slightly ill-advised phone calls was one to his colleague and fellow party member, Deputy District Hermeto (MDB). Hermeto, a subtenent in the PMDF reserve, advised the officers to follow the law and promptly hung up.
The infraction carries a fine of R$ 2,934.70 and a 12-month suspension of driving rights. Despite repeated attempts for a comment, Donizet's press office has remained firmly silent on the matter.
In a far more troublesome context, Deputy Donizet also faces allegations of sexual harassment from the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Federal District and Territories (MPDFT) dating back to April 2023. The case, shrouded in judicial secrecy, involves advisors working in the Regional Administration of Gama.
The defense claims these allegations to be old and fabricated, a part of a grand offensive aiming to discredit the parliamentarian in the public eye. With the ongoing investigation yet to be resolved and Ibaneis Rocha, the Governor of the Federal District, setting a meeting to discuss the matter, the future of Deputy Daniel Donizet (MDB) remains uncertain.
In theContext of the political and general-news arena, Deputy Daniel Donizet (MDB) is facing a controversy beyond reckless driving, with the Public Prosecutor's Office of the Federal District and Territories (MPDFT) accusing him of sexual harassment dating back to April 2023.
Despite the distraction of a traffic violation and subsequent ticket, the allegations of crime-and-justice nature threaten to overshadow Deputy Donizet's political career, as the ongoing investigation continues to unfold.
