Straight Up: Malu Dreyer Gettin' Her Hustle On For State Vote

Campaigning for state election: Malu Dreyer engages actively - Politician Malu Dreyer seeks position as state representative.

Here's the deal, ol' mate. Malu Dreyer, ex-big-wig politician from the Social Democratic Party (SPD), is hitting the campaign trail for the bloody state election, and she ain't mincing bloody words! She's even gotten all supportive with some party peeps, such as Tamara Breitbach, who's eyeing the mayor gig in Züsch.

Now, Dreyer reckons the SPD has a helluva responsibility, 'cause they're a key player in that new federal government coalition gig. "I reckon it's positively rad that the SPD's had a reboot under Lars Klingbeil and the parliamentary and party leadership," Dreyer piped up to the German Press Agency in Mainz. "We've got younger blood, more chicks, and a bit more diversity—the generational change has always been important to me," she added.

The party's also gonna stick to their word and analyze the election loss programme-wise. They're gonna figure out what should be tweaked for the future. That's what she promised over the weekend at the federal party conference in Berlin, where they're gonna decide on a path for a new basic program. "The first moves for personal and content-related development have been made," Dreyer beamed. "I'm stoked 'cause so many Rhineland-Palatinate representatives are in Berlin."

In a parlay with the German Press Agency (dpa), Dreyer's still convinced that the SPD's got it goin' on because they fight for more fairness. "I reckon most folks want a fair dinkum go, and society can't handle too much inequality," she stated. The rich are gettin' richer, and regular folks are left scratchin' their heads 'bout how to manage. That ain't gonna fly long-term, she warned.

Dreyer's thrilled with her successor, Alexander Schweitzer, and believes he's got a good shot at wining the state election on March 22, 2026, with the SPD. Even though the CDU's got a good lead in the polls. "I'm real, real happy with my successor, and it's awesome the coalition continues to govern well and stable 'spite all the dramz," Dreyer shared. "Come on, I led two traffic light governments in Mainz from 2016 till I hung up me spurs in 2024, so I know a thing or two 'bout elections," she added.

But, will Alexander Schweitzer have an easier time against Gordon Schnieder (CDU) compared to what Malu faced during the Corona pandemic against Christian Baldauf (CDU)? "I reckon the SPD's always done one key thing right—never undervaluin' an election and havin' verra good faith in themselves," said Dreyer. "We also know the Rhineland-Palatinate people. They'll figure out who they wanna govern right before the state election," Dreyer added. "And I have no doubts about the SPD and Alexander Schweizer. The dude's doing a bang-up job in the minister president's office from day one," Dreyer said. "He's got great buzz with the people, and I reckon that's frickin' great," Dreyer shared from the peeps she's met.
