Heartbreaking Loss: Turkish Politician Expires After Electrical Mishap
Politician from Turkey succumbs to electrocution, causing death.
In news that's reverberating across Turkey, Ferdi Zeyrek, a 48-year-old politician, met a tragic end following a shocking incident at his residence. According to Anadolu, a Turkish news agency, Zeyrek was found unconscious and in critical condition after an electric shock occurred in his home a few days ago.
Despite the heroic efforts of medical professionals, Zeyrek sadly succumbed to his injuries at the Manisa Celal Bayar University Hafsa Sultan Hospital. The hospital's doctors attributed his death to complications stemming from a severe electric shock that led to a sudden cardiac arrest.
Zeyrek was a dedicated member of the social democratic CHP (Republican People’s Party) and held an identical position in Manisa, a city not far from Izmir on the Turkish Aegean coast. His untimely demise has left a deep void in the political landscape of the region. The sorrowful incident took place amidst his daily inspections at the malfunctioning pool equipment area, more specifically the motor or boiler room, in his private residence.
The loss of Zeyrek has stirred profound emotions throughout Turkey, with Ekrem Imamoglu, a colleague of Zeyrek and the dismissed Istanbul mayor, expressing his sentiment in a note on social media. Imamoglu wrote, "My heart aches so much, I can't describe it. I'm so sorry". He further paid tribute to Zeyrek as a "hardworking, honest, enthusiastic, successful, and sincere person who dedicated himself to Manisa, our dear friend, our brother, and the mayor of the city of Manisa."
The tragic news of Zeyrek's demise was withheld from his mother initially, due to the fear of triggering a cardiac event. She was later informed of the loss under medical supervision. Zeyrek was married and was blessed with three daughters.
Many other prominent individuals in the political spectrum joined Imamoglu in expressing their condolences, including Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan who referred to the unfortunate event as a "tragic accident". Current investigations are underway to determine the potential circumstances and negligence surrounding the incident.
