Regrettably, despite the ardent efforts of medical professionals, he was eventually declared dead at Manisa Celal Bayar University’s Hafsa Sultan Hospital.

Hospital workers protectively chose to conceal the news of Zeyrek's demise from his toiling mother to mitigate the risk of a possible heart attack. Later, she was notified of her son's passing under medical supervision. Zeyrek's life was marked by the warmth of his love and the adoration of his spouse and three cherished daughters.

Zeyrek's passing has left a profound impact on the city of Manisa, its citizens paying their respects to their departed leader. The funeral ceremony, held at Manisa's Cumhuriyet Square and Hatuniye Mosque, was an occasion that drew a massive outpouring of grief, making it one of the largest funeral services in the city's history. The Turkish political sphere, too, has been left with an emptiness that is unlikely to be swiftly filled.
