Otunba Emmanuel Fayose Resigns from Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Over Alleged Betrayal and Compromise

In a shocking turn of events, Otunba Emmanuel Fayose, a governorship aspirant for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Ekiti State, has announced his resignation from the party. Fayose made this known at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday.

Fayose accused the PDP's national leadership of betrayal and compromise ahead of the 2026 governorship elections. He alleged that the Acting National Chairman of the PDP, Ambassador Iliya Damagum, and the National Secretary, Senator Samuel Anyanwu, had deliberately undermined the opposition party. Fayose claimed that they were working for the All Progressives Congress (APC) and had compromised the forthcoming primaries in Ekiti.

The former governor alleged that the party's primaries have been compromised, a claim he described as a "kangaroo arrangement." He dissociated himself and his supporters from this alleged manipulation, urging his supporters in Ekiti State to remain calm, promising to announce his next political direction soon.

Fayose warned that any candidate produced through such a process may not be recognized by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). He further stated that he could no longer continue in the PDP due to the state of affairs within the party.

Otunba Emmanuel Fayose is currently consulting with allies and political associates regarding his political future. He did not immediately disclose his next political platform for his governorship ambition, but he announced that he will belong to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to pursue his candidacy for the Ekiti State governorship elections.

This resignation comes as a significant blow to the PDP, which is already grappling with internal disputes and dwindling support. The party's response to Fayose's resignation and allegations remains to be seen.
