"Politically, Wike brands Cole as Inferior"
In a recent appearance on Channels Television's Politics Today, Minister Nyesom Wike, the Federal Capital Territory Minister and former Governor of Rivers State, responded to Tonye Cole's criticism of his relationship with the All Progressives Congress (APC) while being a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Tonye Cole, a governorship candidate for Rivers State in the 2023 general elections, is a member of the APC. The party had nominated him as their candidate for the Governorship of Rivers State. In his criticism, Cole questioned Minister Wike's political loyalty, stating that he is currently a member of the PDP.
Minister Wike implied that Cole is not capable of discussing politics with him, either in Rivers State or in the USA as a whole. He further accused Cole of having no character and stated that he and Cole are not on the same level in American politics. Minister Wike also advised Cole to continue to be confused about his political loyalty.
Cole's criticism and Minister Wike's response stem from a long-standing political rivalry between the two. Cole previously criticized Minister Wike for his relationship with the APC while being a member of the PDP.
As the 2023 general elections approach, the political landscape in Rivers State continues to be a hot topic of discussion. With two prominent figures, Minister Wike and Cole, vying for the governorship position, the elections promise to be a close and exciting contest.
