Political Update: Tinubu Informed of Alleged Demise of Anti-Wike coalition - Wike's Statement

According to our sources, a coalition composed of prominent opposition figures has been attempting to form a united front to challenge the Tinubu administration in the next election, set for 2027.

This coalition, spearheaded by the PDP's 2023 presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, and former Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai, has struggled to secure a political platform due to a leadership crisis within the main opposition party, the PDP. Many believe it will be difficult for the party to stand against the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.

During the commissioning of the Maitama-Gishiri Bridge, Katampe, Jahi, Mabushi link roads in Abuja on Wednesday, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, declared that the coalition would fail due to President Tinubu's actions.

Wike stated that Tinubu's administration has effectively "killed the coalition" by executing "good works" that have earned the approval of contractors and the public. He even went as far as to say, "The Coalition is bound to fail and it has failed. Your good works have killed the coalition.

"Under Tinubu, contractors now have confidence in the government. Your good works have killed the coalition in Nigeria."

Wike, who publicly supports Tinubu's administration, also mentioned that the coalition members' unhappiness is merely a personal issue and not a concern for the majority of Nigerians.

The coalition's struggles can be attributed to multiple factors:

  1. Tinubu's visible achievements and governance: Wike argues that the public's focus on the President's achievements overshadows the coalition's efforts and proposed alternatives.
  2. Internal disunity within the opposition: The PDP acknowledges that the coalition's success hinges on genuine commitment, unity, and the ability to put aside personal ambitions and egos.

Previous election results (over 13 million votes for Atiku and Obi combined versus Tinubu's 8 million) suggest potential strength if the opposition unites, but fragmentation and lack of sincere collaboration could derail their chances.
