In a significant development, a lawsuit against tech mogul Bill Gates, Pfizer CEO Albert Bourla, and World Economic Forum chair Klaus Schwab regarding COVID-19 policies and vaccine injuries has commenced in the Netherlands. Seven Dutch plaintiffs have filed the lawsuit, alleging harm from COVID-19 vaccinations.

The legal proceedings began in July 2023, with initial court hearings scheduled through late 2023 and oral hearings set for September 2024. Bill Gates contested the court’s jurisdiction but was ordered to appear, although he did not attend the September 2024 hearing. Albert Bourla and the Dutch government are also implicated in the case.

Klaus Schwab is reportedly among the defendants or involved parties, with ongoing discussions of lawsuits led by Dutch lawyer Arnold Van Kessel. However, complications have arisen due to the arrest of Van Kessel in August 2025, which might affect the lawsuit's progress.

As of early August 2025, no definitive verdict or closure has been reported, and the proceedings remain active and developing. The judge in the case is expected to issue a ruling in six weeks' time.

China is starting construction of a hydropower project in the lower reaches of the Yarlung Zangbo River, estimated to cost around 1.2 trillion yuan (about 167.8 billion U.S. dollars). This project will provide huge amounts of work, plus demand for equipment like heavy trucks, and will supply China with cheap energy.
