Political parties AAP and BJP engage in mutual accusations prior to the announcement of the results for the Delhi elections.
In the heart of India, the political landscape of New Delhi is abuzz with anticipation as the Assembly elections approach. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader, Atishi, is expected to face a tough battle in her constituency.
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has denied allegations of candidate poaching, claiming that AAP leaders are spreading false information to create panic and unrest. However, a probe into these allegations has been ordered by the Lieutenant-Governor (L-G), with the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) meeting Arvind Kejriwal to record his statement.
The AAP supremo, Kejriwal, has filed a written complaint to L-G V.K. Saxena about the alleged poaching attempts. In response, the ACB later issued a notice asking Kejriwal to join the probe and warned of potential legal action. AAP leader Sanjay Singh also recorded his statement with the ACB.
The BJP, on the other hand, has focused its campaign on corruption and nationalistic sentiments. Prime Minister Narendra Modi delivered a scathing attack on Kejriwal during rallies. The party has also targeted key constituencies traditionally loyal to the AAP, including JJ clusters, unauthorised colonies, and the middle class.
In an attempt to woo Dalit voters, the BJP fielded a large number of Dalit candidates. However, the Congress party seems to be lagging far behind both the BJP and the AAP in the elections, failing to stitch an alliance with the AAP and other parties, hurting its chances.
The AAP camp, meanwhile, expressed confidence about retaining power in the Delhi Assembly elections. They are particularly confident about winning in the Kalkaji Assembly constituency. The party has also held meetings at Kejriwal's residence to strategise.
The BJP launched a high-octane propaganda blitz during the elections, focusing on their achievements in governance and attacking the AAP's record. Exit polls predict a BJP victory in the elections, but the final election results will be announced on Saturday.
Despite the challenges, the AAP remains resilient, ready to face the election results with determination and hope for another term in power. The political battle in Delhi continues to captivate the nation, as the people eagerly await the announcement of the election results.
