Vietnam's Top Leader Visits South Korea to Bolster Comprehensive Strategic Partnership
General Secretary Tô Lâm, the leader of Vietnam, is making his first state visit to the Republic of Korea (RoK) from Sunday to Wednesday. This visit is a significant milestone in the long-standing relationship between the two countries, which has evolved into a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership.
The RoK is currently Vietnam's largest investor and third-biggest trading partner. Over 350,000 Vietnamese live in the RoK, and more than 200,000 Koreans reside in Vietnam. The RoK has also designated Vietnam as its top priority partner for development assistance.

In the past three decades, the partnership has led to a model relationship with substantial and comprehensive progress, strengthened political trust and personal rapport between the top leaders of both countries, and notable growth in investment and people-to-people exchanges.
During this visit, the General Secretary is expected to further open up new areas of cooperation such as science and technology, innovation, digital transformation, semiconductors, artificial intelligence (AI), and cultural industry collaboration. The visit aims to bring practical benefits to the people and business communities of both countries.
The RoK has invited General Secretary Lâm as President Lee Jae Myung's first "state-level guest," demonstrating the RoK's high regard for relations with Vietnam and its Party leader personally. The visit also reflects Việt Nam's determination and aspiration to build a prosperous and strong nation and maximize international resources to serve the country's development goals in the new era.
