The United Nations General Assembly session, taking place this year, is described as 'very important' for Bangladesh's political leaders. This gathering offers an opportunity for the nation's leaders to bridge gaps and build understanding, providing a valuable platform for strengthening mutual understanding among Bangladesh's political leadership.

In preparation for the UN meeting, the interim government has approved amendments to two Election Commission laws. Shafiqul Alam, the press secretary, announced these changes, which aim to clarify accountability and punishment for officials who neglect election duties. The previous law had issues regarding accountability and punishment for election officials. One of the amendments concerns Section 5 of the EC Secretariat Act (2009), which has been revised to accelerate the commission's work. Additionally, amendments to the Election Officers (Special Provisions) Act (1991) address these concerns, providing a clearer framework for holding officials accountable.

However, the search results do not provide the name of the politician who initiated these revisions to parts of the Election Commission Act.

As part of the delegation attending the UN General Assembly, four political leaders will join Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, party leader Humayun Kabir, Jamaat-e-Islami's Nayeb-e-Ameer Syeed Abdullah Muhammad Taher, and National Citizen Party (NCP) Member Secretary Akhter Hossen have been included in the delegation. The Bangladesh delegation, including these political leaders, is scheduled to depart Dhaka on 22 September.

The Chief Adviser's Deputy Press Secretary Abul Kalam Azad Majumder considers the inclusion of political leaders in Bangladesh's delegation to be a welcome step. This move provides an opportunity to showcase national unity before the world, regardless of political differences. The Deputy Press Secretary believes that this delegation will offer a powerful display of unity and cooperation among Bangladesh's political leaders on the global stage.
