Political Leader Alleges Julius Abure's Power Grab Amidst Scandal

There's a whirlwind of controversy brewing within the Labour Party (LP), with Senior Special Assistant on Public Affairs to the Abia State Governor, Ebere Uzoukwa, accusing National Chairman Julius Abure of scheming to hold on to power past his term, driven by ambition for 2027 elections.

According to our reports, Uzoukwa voiced his concern in an interview with Vanguard in Umuahia, claiming Abure's disregard for the Supreme Court's ruling that marked the end of his tenure as the LP's National Chairman.

Uzoukwa painted a picture of manipulation, saying, "Barr. Julius Abure is pulling out all the stops to hang onto power, deliberately flouting the crystal-clear judgment of the Supreme Court. You can see him pulling off a circus of tactics to cater to the interests of his backers for the 2027 general elections. He wants the Labour Party destabilized at all costs."

The chieftain also addressed the purported suspension of Abia State Governor, Dr. Alex Otti, as part of Abure's alleged strategy to retain a grip on the party, noting, "This isn't much of a surprise. This move was preplanned after Governor Otti and others' roles in rescuing the Labour Party from Abure and his political money grubbers."

Uzoukwa further criticized Abure for his attempts to undermine the party leadership, describing his actions as "silly antics" meant to cling to power. "The theatrics surrounding the suspension of Governor Otti, a Labour Party trailblazer, and other distinguished leaders, are a pathetic, idiotic, and laughable attempt to maintain control," Uzoukwa added.

He provided a damning account of Abure's term as chairman, describing it as riddled with controversy, chaos, and the breakdown of the party's internal structure.

"Abure's desperation is evident, and his latest move has merely underscored his crumbling grasp on reality," Uzoukwa said, calling the former chairman's actions "inept" and revealing his loss of power.

Uzoukwa also expressed his dismay at Abure's continued portrayal as the national chairman despite the Supreme Court ruling. "It's astonishing that a lawyer of Abure's caliber has been brazenly declaring himself national chairman, issuing statements that mock the sanctity of democracy and the judiciary," Uzoukwa remarked.

Uzoukwa praised the Senator Nenadi Usman-led National Caretaker Committee, commending them for efforts to hold Abure accountable and revitalize the party.

"Members of the party are demanding answers from Abure and his former leadership. Hats off to Governor Otti for his exemplary leadership and shrewd interventions. His so-called suspension by Abure's cabal is just a sad joke and a futile attempt to keep himself in power until 2027," Uzoukwa stated.

He also called for Abure's arrest by the Inspector General of Police for impersonation and urged INEC to enforce the Supreme Court judgment to preserve the integrity of democracy.

"At this point, the Inspector General of Police must take action against Abure for impersonation, and INEC should implement the Supreme Court judgment," Uzoukwa said, concluding with commendations for Senator Nenadi Usman's National Caretaker Committee.

"The Senator Nenadi Usman-led National Caretaker Committee has earned our admiration for its tireless work to rebuild and reposition the Labour Party at all levels, making it a formidable force at the grassroots," he concluded, adding that Usman's leadership has brought hope and renewed purpose to the party.
