Political group Votergemeinschaft has nominated candidates for all 29 constituencies in the upcoming election
A lively meeting set the course for Neuss's election campaign. All 29 electoral districts in the region are brimming with candidates, a fact acknowledged positively by chairman Michael Klinkicht, who stated, "we've managed to engage some truly dedicated individuals." Yet, he issues a note of caution: "While we hope to make an immediate impact on the city council, we must acknowledge that as a new electoral community, we can't expect to secure direct mandates right off the bat." As a backup plan, a reserve list with twelve names, including key figures like Klinkicht himself, Ingeborg Arndt, Dieter Zander, Konstantin Konstantinidis, and Bettina Nordmann-Zander, has been drawn up.
Klinkicht explains that Neuss Now! intends to provide the voters with an alternative voice, situated beyond the conventional party spectrum. The group aims to be versatile in its ideologies and contribute to Neuss's development without political biases or ideological blinkers.
To shed light on their objectives, Neuss Now! has already established a couple of plans— among them preserving the Wendersplatz as an untouched green space, opposing "war production in Neuss harbor" as per Klinkicht's statement, escalating environmental protection and biodiversity efforts, and advocating against increases in trade tax and property tax. Moreover, they aren't forgetting the significance of language: they aim to revert Neuss back to the standard German language usage, prohibiting unnecessary gender-neutral terms.
Klinkicht takes a firm stance on this matter: "Enough with being distracted by trivial matters like stars and double dots. Instead, let's tackle the actual problems confronting our city—drug abuse at city hall, ever-rising homelessness, and the potential loss of two popular swimming pools. We've got far too many construction projects underway—on our streets and beyond—so it's high time we started bringing real change!"
As put forward by Rolf Retzlaff, these are the goals and key interests of Neuss Now! in the upcoming election campaign.
Environmental protection and general news will be priority areas for Neuss Now! in their upcoming election campaign, aiming to escalate efforts in these domains while opposing "war production in Neuss harbor." They also plan to advocate against increases in trade tax and property tax, indicating a focus on economic issues. Additionally, they aim to revert Neuss back to standard German language usage, indicating attention towards language matters.
