Anti-Tinubu Coalition Criticized for Challenging Aiyedatiwa's Determination to Maintain Power Within the APC

Political group, led by Aiyedatiwa, defends its continued support for APC, asserting the aim is to maintain control over the government - a stance countered by the Anti-Tinubu Coalition.

In a significant development, Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa of Ondo State has firmly rejected the idea of any coalition aimed at unseating President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 elections. Addressing a crowd during a formal reception of Hon. Dayo Awude and members of the Sunshine Grassroots Network (SGN) into the All Progressives Congress (APC), Aiyedatiwa described such coalition efforts as the work of "daydreamers" and "unserious actors" with no credible plans for Nigeria.

Aiyedatiwa emphasized that Ondo State remains solidly under the APC banner, stating that there is "no room for coalition" in the state. He urged political actors to focus on grassroots mobilization to retain power for the APC rather than entertain opposition coalitions.

The governor praised the recent defections from opposition parties to the APC as strategic moves supporting President Tinubu’s agenda. He highlighted the "visible dividends of good governance" under Tinubu’s leadership and his own administration in Ondo State, positioning the APC as the sole credible political platform for the state. Aiyedatiwa urged unity under the APC banner and dismissed coalition talks as lacking seriousness and concrete plans.

The governor did not discuss the political moves ahead of the 2027 polls or mention any specific actions necessary to achieve power retention. However, he stated that the APC aims to retain power and believes that the contributions of the new entrants will be valued and rewarded.

Aiyedatiwa argued that the coalition has no credible plans for Nigeria, stating that the ultimate goal of any political party is to be in power. He urged the defectors to immediately begin grassroots mobilisation to strengthen the APC's hold at the state and national levels.

In summary, Aiyedatiwa’s stance portrays coalition efforts against Tinubu as unrealistic and lacking substantive backing, affirming his administration’s and Ondo State’s loyalty to Tinubu and the APC. The governor's words serve as a clear message to those considering opposition coalitions, emphasizing the importance of unity and strategic political moves within the APC.
