Get ready for a new political player on the German scene! Former AfD bigwig, Frauke Petry, is gearing up to unveil a brand new party that'll shake things up come 2026!
"I've teamed up with some like-minded individuals, and we've established 'Team Freedom' to pave the way for our new party," Petry revealed in an exclusive interview with Welt. Though she's keeping the name under wraps, plenty about her new venture is out in the open.
"We're not looking to fill the vacuum between the CDU and AfD," she explained. "There's a huge gap in the party system, and we want to offer an anti-statist, libertarian alternative to the current roster."
This fresh face on the political scene aims high, promising a renewal of the German economy, cultural bonds with the West, and a drastic reduction in the state quota. "We plan to reduce it from around 50% to 25% within five years," Petry declared.

Frauke Petry, a chemist by trade, co-founded the AfD with Bernd Lucke back in the day but split ways due to internal strife post the 2017 federal election. She then served as an independent member of the Bundestag until 2021, later forming the Blue Party in a bid to fill the void on the right. However, her Blue Party called it quits following disappointing election results in Saxony and Thuringia.
Now, she's determined to make her mark with a more successful fresh start. "We're planning to enter state elections next year, starting with Baden-Württemberg," Petry announced. "We're after independent citizens and entrepreneurs, no need for them to join the party." In essence, she wants to empower the 98% of citizens who aren't part of any party.
