Headline: Ijaw Nation's Political Integration into APC Urged by Ex-Labour Candidate, Udengs Eradiri
Political figure Eradiri advocates for Diri and Dickson to unite with APC, proposing alignment for the advancement of the Ijaw Nation.
Yo, check this out! In a bold move, a former LP Governorship candidate in Bayelsa, Udengs Eradiri, is pounding for Governor Douye Diri and his predecessor, Seriake Dickson, to align the Ijaw nation with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).
Eradiri reckons it's high time for the Ijaw ethnic group to hop on the APC bandwagon, seeing as the current political climate is rip for realignment. He believes that failure to join forces with the APC could leave the Ijaws out in the cold when it comes to national politics.
Now, this dude is no stranger to political clout, serving as the President of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC). He went on to argue that being at odds with the administration of President Bola Tinubu will only lead to political exclusion for the Ijaw community.
"Times are a-changin', y'all. If we sit on our hands, we risk being left behind politically.
"Hitchin' our wagons to the APC star will give the Ijaw folks a bigger say in the game, attractin' much-needed infrastructure and development to our region," Eradiri said.
Eradiri pressed Diri and Dickson to put the Ijaw nation's interests above their own personal ambitions, asserting that their political move would bring the community closer to the national decision-making table.
Historically, the Ijaw folks have played close to the state, aligning with whichever government was in power. Eradiri points out that the current administration doesn't offer any advantage to the Ijaw community if they remain in opposition.
"The time for political realignment in the Ijaw nation is now. We need to make moves and join the ruling party if we want to avoid being left out in the cold," Eradiri explained.
Eradiri also warned that staying in opposition to the Tinubu-led administration will only continue to marginalize the Ijaw community politically.
He noted that past Ijaw leaders, both veteran and long gone, made it their mission to align with the central government to ensure the region always had a say in national politics.
"Ijaws have always had a voice in government, even in the toughest of times. Right now, we don't have a say in the APC-led Federal Government, but by joinin' the ruling party, both Diri and Dickson can help change that," Eradiri said.
Eradiri then urged the two leaders to put the Ijaw nation's interests before their personal ambitions and take the necessary steps toward securin' a more integrated and influential role for the community at the national level.
Eradiri wrapped it up by stressin' that the Ijaw nation can't afford to be mere spectators in the national political game. He pointed out that the resources of the Ijaw nation are crucial to the Nigerian economy, so it's important for the community to stay strategic when it comes to advancein' its development.
"Ijaws can't afford to be sideline spectators. Our resources keep Nigeria runnin'; we need to stay strategically positioned to push the development of Bayelsa and the entire Ijaw nation," he said.
