Political figure CS Wahome responds to accusations made by Gachagua, regarding his remarks about a woman being referred to as a 'flower girl'.
In the midst of escalating political tensions within the ruling coalition, Lands, Housing and Urban Development Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome has responded to accusations made by former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua about her role in the government jobs.
During a visit to rally support for the Kenya Kwanza administration, Wahome emphasised ongoing development initiatives spearheaded by her Ministry. These include the construction of affordable housing units and modern markets under the Economic Stimulus Programme (ESP), as well as the completion of the Kandara Level 4 Bildad Kaggia Hospital.
However, Gachagua, in an apparent attempt to undermine Wahome's authority, referred to her as a 'flower girl' in the Lands Ministry. He also accused her of having no authority in her docket and being in the government jobs only to earn a salary for her children.
Wahome swiftly denied these claims and advised Gachagua to refrain from personal attacks. She stated that she is in the government jobs to serve the people of Kenya through her Ministry, and that all of her children are grown up and working.
In addition, Wahome criticised unnamed individuals pushing the narrative of a one-term presidency, stating that those pushing for a one-term presidency will serve for only one term. This remark comes as internal divisions are beginning to surface ahead of the 2027 general elections within the ruling coalition.
Wahome belongs to the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party in the current government, and her visit was aimed at reinforcing the party's commitment to development and progress for the people of Kenya.
