Police thwarted an attack on the AfD stand.

In the heart of Bremen, a city in northwestern Germany, a tense scene unfolded on Saturday near the Walle train station. A counter-protest, estimated to have drawn up to 150 participants, took place near an information booth set up by the Alternative for Germany (AfD) party.

The day started peacefully enough, with the AfD setting up their information booth in the morning. However, as the counter-protest commenced, a group of around 30 masked individuals, believed to be supported by left-wing extremist groups, ran towards the party stand.

The police, monitoring the events closely, intervened promptly to prevent a sudden attack. Using physical force and a multi-purpose baton, they managed to stop the attack, thus averting a potential confrontation and further escalation.

Shortly after the counter-protest began, unknown individuals had written slogans like "Nazis out" and "AFD stinks" on the sidewalk with spray paint. No one was injured during this incident, nor during the subsequent altercation.

The dismantling of the AfD information booth marked the end of the counter-protest, which dispersed around midday. Traffic disruptions occurred in the areas of Waller Ring/Waller Heerstraße and Osterfeuerberger Ring/Ratzeburger Straße due to the events. However, these disruptions were resolved once the counter-protest dispersed.

No further attacks were reported on the AfD information booth after the initial incident. Banners with the text "No room for right-wing hate, solidarity instead of fascism" were hung over a railway underpass, which were later removed by deployment forces.

It is important to note that a criminal complaint has been filed under the assembly law for the offenses that occurred during the incident. The press office for the Police Bremen can provide further information about the events, and their contact information is available on their website.

The police continued to monitor the situation to ensure public safety, and no injuries were reported during the dismantling of the information booth. The AfD had set up an information booth at Bremen-Walle train station in the morning, marking the beginning of a day that was filled with tension and controversy.
