Police station on the highway, part of the main police headquarters in South Hessen, officially opened

The South East Hesse Autobahn Police Station has moved to new premises, marking a significant milestone in the security of Hanau and the Main-Kinzig district. The inauguration took place on August 28, 2025, and was attended by Interior Minister Roman Poseck, South East Hesse's Police President Daniel Muth, and Mayor Claus Kaminsky.

The new head of the highway police station, succeeding Senior Police Commissioner Christian Kreß after his retirement, is Police Chief Commissioner Timo Rosenberger. Rosenberger, known for his calmness and decisions that prioritize the human factor, took over as the new acting head following Kreß's retirement.

Previously serving in various positions, including deputy head of the highway police, Rosenberger has now been officially introduced as the new acting head of the South Hesse Highway Police Station. His leadership is expected to bring a fresh perspective to the station, which handles a wide range of tasks annually, including recording around 2,000 accidents.

The restructuring of the security architecture of the South East Hesse Police Headquarters coincides with the upcoming secession of the city of Hanau on January 1, 2026. As part of this restructuring, the Hanau Police Station, Langenselbold Police Station, and the South East Hesse Police Autobahn Station have been inaugurated, creating new structures.

In addition to these changes, Hanau has established four community officers to serve as a constant point of contact for citizens and represent a community-oriented police force. This initiative aims to foster closer ties between the police and the community, and each of the Bad Orb and Schlüchtern police stations now has a dedicated community officer.

The new location of the South East Hesse Autobahn Police improves both the traffic connection and the operational strength of the Autobahn Police. Police President Daniel Muth has expressed satisfaction with the new location and facilities of the South Hesse Highway Police Station.

The Autobahn Police is responsible for approximately 330 kilometers of autobahns and motorway-like federal roads, including the A 66 between Schlüchtern and Frankfurt and a section of the A 3. The inauguration of the new South East Hesse Autobahn Police Station signifies a renewed commitment to maintaining safety on these roads and ensuring the security of the region.
