Police Raids Palestinian Protest in Berlin, Officers Injured

In Berlin, Germany, the Public Prosecutor's Office has conducted raids at five residences, targeting two suspects aged 28 and 29, and three witnesses. This development comes amidst ongoing investigations into a pro-Palestinian rally that took place in the city, where a police officer was severely injured.

The incident, which occurred on May 15, saw around 1,100 people participating in the demonstration, according to police reports. The rally was held to protest, partly aggressively, against Israel and the war in Gaza. Regrettably, the demonstration resulted in injuries for both police officers and protesters. At least 11 officers and an unspecified number of protesters received treatment.

One of the police officers, a 36-year-old, was hospitalized due to injuries sustained from being trampled. Another officer, whose identity has not been disclosed, suffered a broken arm and injuries to his upper body. Riots and intense scuffles occurred between protesters and police during the peak of the demonstration.

The seized evidence, which includes several communication devices and other items, allegedly confirms the presence of both suspects at the scene of the crime. However, neither suspect is suspected of having directly attacked the police officer.

There is suspicion against the 28-year-old of violating the peace in a particularly serious case, resisting law enforcement officers, and attempted escape. The 29-year-old is suspected of resisting law enforcement officers in conjunction with attempted escape.

Approximately 60 officers were involved in the raids, which took place at the suspects' and witnesses' residences. It is important to note that no arrests were made during the raids.

The German-Israeli Society has condemned the violence and expressed concerns about the motivations behind such demonstrations. As the investigation continues, additional or more specific sources would be needed for a more precise understanding of the investigation's status and any subsequent law enforcement actions.

In light of the ongoing investigation into the violent pro-Palestinian rally in Berlin, the General-news community is closely following developments in Politics and Crime-and-justice. The seized evidence, allegedly showing the presence of two suspects at the scene of the crime, suggests their involvement in resisting law enforcement officers and attempted escape, as part of the general-news story.
