She also worked in digital content roles at NEWSnet and the Gannett/USA Today network, and was a reporter for several newspapers in Ohio, including the Toledo Free Press and the News Herald. Wethington is a graduate of the University of South Carolina.

In a recent development, the Oakland County Prosecutor's Office announced criminal charges against Michael Rybinski, a Farmington Hills police officer. Rybinski is facing charges for third-degree and four counts of fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct. The charges are related to an off-duty incident that allegedly took place outside of the city.

Upon learning about the investigation involving Rybinski in June, Farmington Hills city officials placed him on administrative duty in a non-enforcement role. Upon filing charges against Rybinski, the Farmington Hills Police Department placed him on paid administrative leave and suspended his law enforcement authority.

The City of Farmington Hills, committed to fostering a safe, respectful, and welcoming environment for all members of their community and staff, issued a joint statement from City Manager Gary Mekjia and Police Chief John Piggott regarding the situation. They expressed their sincere concern for all those who may be affected by the allegations against Rybinski. The City is also conducting an internal investigation.
