Police officer discharges firearm in Boyle Heights following short foot pursuit, striking an individual
In a series of events that unfolded on Sunday night, an officer-involved shooting took place in the area of Fickett and Boulder Street, Boyle Heights.
According to reports, a man allegedly ran from officers after a short foot pursuit. The man, who has been identified as 30-year-old Francisco Garcia, is said to have produced a handgun during the foot pursuit. The man was subsequently shot by police and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he is currently listed in stable condition.
The LAPD SWAT unit appeared to question the suspected armed individual before the shooting. The man's handgun was recovered at the scene as evidence. No officers were injured during the incident.
