Unmasking the Criminals Behind the Violent Killing in Bayelsa
Police in Bayelsa State apprehended the suspected killers of Governor Diri's relative and two additional individuals.
In a chilling turn of events, the ruthless killers behind the shocking act of violence in Bayelsa State's Kalaba community have finally been apprehended. According to our investigations, the victims were 50-year-old Odeinyefa Ogbolosingha, in-law to Governor Douye Diri, the Paramount Ruler of Kalaba Community, HRH Kolibo Amabelimo, and Samuel Oburo.
The justice system in Bayelsa has been set into motion, as the police have confirmed the identities of the suspects responsible for these heinous crimes. The three individuals allegedly involved are Gideon Atama (32), Bethlehem Nwanlia (49), and the notorious figure, Clever Ovo (33).
During a media session in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State Commissioner of Police, Francis Idu, disclosed that while one suspect, Perekebi Nwanlia, is deceased, Gideon Atama and Bethlehem Nwanlia continue to evade authorities. Clever Ovo, however, has been taken into custody and has indeed confessed to being a part of the notorious Endurance Amagbein gang.
"They (the Endurance Amagbein gang) were involved in the murders," said Idu, highlighting the heinous acts committed by this gang.
Amagbein, the alleged leader of this notorious criminal group, has gained infamy for his criminal activities, which have included the aforementioned murders. His gang's reach extends across Bayelsa and Delta states, and their atrocities have made authorities across both states keen to put an end to their reign of terror. The Nigerian Army has even declared Amagbein wanted in connection to the 2024 killing of 16 soldiers in Ughelli South, Delta State[1][4].
Clever Ovo, who was apprehended in 2025, has confirmed the gang's involvement in these killings and other criminal activities[1][3]. As of now, the authorities are actively pursuing the remaining members of Amagbein's gang, including the elusive Amagbein himself, who remains at large.
In another intriguing development, police officers on a security boat at Igbikiba in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area arrested a 200-year-old boat captain, Danile Williams, accused of involvement in pipeline vandalism. Williams is alleged to have participated in a recent attack on the Tebedaba-Brass trunkline at Lakosogbene community[5].
