Police halt dangerously overloaded and uninsured vehicles in Lower Saxony crackdown

Police in Lower Saxony stopped multiple vehicles for serious traffic violations over the past week. A van in Baddeckenstedt was found dangerously overloaded, while another near Haverlah lacked proper licensing and insurance. Both incidents led to immediate driving bans for those involved.

In Baddeckenstedt, officers inspected a van at a local petrol station on Braunschweiger Straße. The vehicle exceeded its permitted weight by 28%, carrying an extra 980 kg. The 20-year-old driver and his two passengers were also caught without valid insurance or paid vehicle taxes. Authorities immediately prohibited them from continuing their trip.

Near Haverlah, a 39-year-old man was stopped while towing a trailer with a car. The combined weight surpassed the legal 3,500 kg limit, and the driver lacked the required BE-class licence for such a vehicle. Further checks revealed the van had no valid insurance coverage.

Both drivers now face legal consequences for their violations. The overloaded van in Baddeckenstedt and the uninsured trailer combination near Haverlah were taken off the road. Police have reminded motorists to comply with weight limits, licensing rules, and insurance requirements to avoid penalties.
