The Independent Commission for Infrastructure (ICI), an independent body established by President Ferdinand Marcos Jr., has begun its investigation into corruption allegations related to flood control and other infrastructure projects across the country.

The ICI, composed of retired Supreme Court Associate Justice Andres Reyes Jr., former Public Works Secretary Rogelio "Babes" Singson, SGV and Co. country managing partner Rossana Fajardo, and retired PNP major general and now Baguio City Mayor Benjie Magalong, started its investigation on September 18 with an inspection in Quezon City. Brice Hernandez, a dismissed official of the DPWH Bulacan 1st Engineering District, has been issued a summons.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) is ready to assist the ICI in ensuring the safety of its members. PNP Acting Chief Police Lieutenant General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. has placed a sufficient number of uniformed personnel on standby for security assistance to the ICI. The PNP is prepared to expand the security coverage to all those who will compose the ICI.

Nartatez emphasized the complexity and difficulty of the responsibility carried by the members of the ICI, and it is only right to ensure their safety until the investigation is completed. He stated that the PNP will place a sufficient number of personnel on standby to immediately respond to the security needs of the ICI, including site inspections and witness protection if necessary.

President Marcos Jr. created the ICI to investigate flood control projects across the country, in response to growing concerns about corruption in these projects. Nartatez supports the call for transparency and accountability in this issue, as it was exposed by President Marcos.

However, besides the chairman Andres Reyes Jr., specific members of the ICI are not yet listed in the provided search results. The PNP is not the entity that created the ICI, but it is ready to assist in ensuring the safety of its members.

Nartatez assured the PNP's readiness to provide security during the entire investigation period. As of now, no formal request for security assistance has been received by the PNP yet. Nevertheless, the PNP remains vigilant and prepared to protect the ICI during their important work.
