Police extend the deadline for tinted glass permit applications and reveal the updated due date
The Nigeria Police Force, under the leadership of Inspector General Kayode Egbetokun, has announced an extension to the enforcement date for vehicles with tinted windows, requiring them to obtain a Tinted Glass Permit (TGP) through the official online portal (https://possap.gov.ng).
The new enforcement date is now set for October 2, 2025, giving vehicle owners ample time to apply for the permit. This extension is due to a surge in applications and allows for thorough reviews and system fine-tuning to ensure that only eligible individuals receive the permits, in line with national security considerations.
To obtain the TGP, applicants must apply online via the designated portal before the October 2, 2025 deadline. The Police Force conducts both digital and physical verification to confirm applicants’ eligibility and prevent abuse of the permit system, balancing public convenience with security.
Citizens are urged to report any unauthorized charges or processing attempts related to TGPs via the official police hotline - 09169967000. The Force appreciates the cooperation of the Nigerian people and remains committed to balancing public convenience with robust security measures for the safety of all.
It is important to note that the official platform for TGP applications remains https://possap.gov.ng. Using unofficial sources is prohibited and may lead to scams or extortion. The public is advised to disregard any unofficial channels for TGP applications.
Inspector General Kayode Egbetokun and the Nigeria Police Force encourage all vehicle owners with tinted windows to apply for their Tinted Glass Permits responsibly and follow the given guidelines to ensure a smooth and secure process for all.
