Police Stop Nighttime Drift Practices at Tuner Meetups - Police crack down on illegal car tuner meets after drifting stunts

Police have taken action against late-night car tuner gatherings in three Baden-Württemberg towns. The crackdown followed reports of dangerous drifting stunts and concerns over vehicle safety. Officers monitored meetups in Reutlingen, Weilheim, and Rottenburg overnight.

The operation began after authorities received complaints about reckless driving and poorly maintained cars. Around 150 vehicles had gathered in a parking lot near Reutlingen University. When police arrived, attendees initially dispersed but later regrouped in Weilheim and Rottenburg.

Officers intervened after witnessing drifting manoeuvres and other unsafe behaviour. During inspections, eight vehicles were found with technical defects. Two of these were immediately banned from the road due to serious faults. The checks took place across all three locations, with police focusing on known hotspots for illegal car meets. Despite the initial cooperation, some drivers returned to the gatherings after officers left the area.

The operation resulted in eight vehicles being classified as unfit for the road. Two cars were stopped from driving entirely because of major defects. Authorities have warned that further patrols will take place if dangerous behaviour continues.
