Police collision involving a patrol vehicle
In Central Berlin last night, a car accident involving a police patrol car occurred on Alexanderstraße. The collision took place around 8:25 PM near the intersection of Bernhard-Weiß-Straße and Alexanderstraße.
The car involved was a 55-year-old woman's VW, who was driving in the right lane towards Karl-Marx-Allee. According to reports, the woman switched lanes twice to pass a motorcyclist waiting at a traffic light at the same intersection. A 26-year-old police officer from Police Directorate 4 (South) entered the intersection in a patrol car.
Sadly, the collision between the VW and the patrol car resulted in the patrol car flipping over and landing on its driver's side. The 26-year-old officer and his two colleagues sustained scrapes and head injuries. Fortunately, the motorcyclist, who was waiting at the traffic light, was not involved in the collision.
The VW driver suffered multiple bone fractures and was taken to a hospital by emergency services. The traffic investigation unit of Police Directorate 4 (South) took over the further investigation into the accident.
As a result of the accident, Alexanderstraße was closed to both vehicle and pedestrian traffic from 8:30 PM to 1:00 AM between certain intersections. This closure affected public transportation in the area. The traffic investigation unit is still conducting further investigation into the incident.
At the time of writing, there are no available or relevant updates on this specific accident on Alexanderstraße. Searches mainly cover unrelated topics like a fire in Wuppertal, Berlin traffic reports about construction and roadblocks, and local events or food festivals. However, as the investigation continues, more information may become available.
