Police Chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP), selected best among all
In a significant milestone for the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO), Police Colonel Enrico Figueroa, the Director of the CCPO, was recognised as the Best Senior Police Commissioned Officer (PCO) for Operations during the 124th Police Service Anniversary held at Camp Crame. The honour was bestowed upon him by President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr., in recognition of his leadership and innovative anti-crime strategies that have led to notable operational accomplishments.
The CCPO's success story began with the implementation of Operation Oplan Bulabog, a strategy that resulted in a remarkable decrease of 32.71% in the overall crime rate. Additionally, the CCPO achieved a 100% crime clearance rate in the first quarter of 2025, demonstrating the effectiveness of this operation.
One of the key innovations that contributed to these results was the establishment of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) under Figueroa's command. This unit played a crucial role in the CCPO's victories, highlighting the importance of a robust investigative body in combatting crime.
The CCPO's achievements were not only a testament to the police force's efforts but also a shared victory for the citizens of Cebu City. The theme of the event, "Police, Guardian of a Strong Nation," resonated with the community, reflecting the effectiveness of Figueroa's operational leadership and strategies in maintaining public safety.
Police Lieutenant Colonel Maria Theresa Macatangay was commended for her role in the CCPO's victories within the Cebu City police force and the community. She was appointed as the deputy city director for operation at the CCPO.
The CCPO's success in anti-criminality efforts led them to lead all City Police Offices in the Philippines. The discussion about anti-criminality strategies was initiated from the PNP National Headquarters, with the CCPO's innovative strategies being a prime example of effective implementation.
The event marked a significant moment in the history of the CCPO, with President Marcos Jr.'s presence serving as a symbol of the government's support for the police force's efforts in maintaining peace and order in Cebu City. The CCPO continues to strive for excellence in their mission to serve and protect the community.
