Police chief addresses post-match chaos: "Unacceptable excess"
Following the mayhem at the Bundesliga clash between Eintracht Frankfurt and VfB Stuttgart, Stefan Müller, the city's police commissioner, voiced his disapproval. At a press conference, Müller expressed his shock at the escalating violence, labeling it "unacceptable." More than 200 people, including over 100 spectators and officials, fell victim to the chaotic proceedings.
Müller insisted that there's no room for lawlessness. The Frankfurt police have established a special commission, and approximately 50 individuals are investigating the incident. "The violence was greatly disproportionate to the situation," Müller pointed out. Alcohol played a role in exacerbating events.
Regarding Thursday's Conference League clash against PAOK Thessaloniki, Müller added that both sides would maintain a professional demeanor. He, however, stressed the importance of discipline from the problematic supporters. "This is an issue specific to Frankfurt, separate from league events elsewhere," Müller emphasized.
