Police are investigating potential legal action against Philipp Ruch, following a disruptive incident during his summer interview at Weidel.
The Berlin police have strongly denied any collaboration with the Center for Political Beauty in the disruption of AfD leader Alice Weidel's ARD summer interview. This denial comes after claims made by the protest organisers and the Centre's founder, Philipp Ruch, suggesting a close working relationship.
According to official statements, the police instructed a contact person on the bus to stop the sound emissions, as they were causing disruptions to traffic and public order. The bus, bearing the inscription "Adenauer SRP+", was found to belong to the Center for Political Beauty during the incident.
The Senate Administration for the Interior and Sport revealed this information in response to an inquiry by the AfD faction. However, the police statement does not mention any collaboration between the Berlin police and the ARD in the disruption of Weidel's interview.
Ruch, in a podcast, claimed that the action could only have taken place with the help of the Berlin police and the ARD. Yet, the police have rejected this allegation and are reportedly examining legal steps against Ruch for making false claims.
The disruption took place during an interview with moderator Markus Preiß. Several protesters gathered, making it difficult for Weidel and the moderator to communicate. The bus's driver left the vehicle quickly during the disruption, but the bus remained stationary throughout.
The ARD moved the following week's summer interview with Green Party leader Felix Banaszak due to the disruption caused by the protest. The Centre for Political Beauty, a collective, was involved in the disruption, with a musical contribution critical of the AfD played continuously over a fixed loudspeaker system on the bus.
Despite Ruch's claims, the Berlin police did not intervene to remove the protesters from the scene during the disruption. The police justify their actions during the disruption as "appropriate". The Centre for Political Beauty has yet to comment on the police's denial of collaboration.
