In an unprecedented turn of events, Cologne police apprehended a 35-year-old Syrian man following a knife incident that unfolded on Friday evening. The man was pursued by police after he threatened a 33-year-old woman on Cologne Street and continued to hold a knife even when confronted by officers.

The incident began when the man encountered his ex-partner on Cologne Street. A heated argument ensued, and the man followed the woman into a nearby doctor's office. Inside the office, the man brandished the knife and attempted to harm the woman. Despite orders to drop the weapon, the man refused, leading the police to use a DEIG (less-lethal) weapon.

Following the use of the DEIG weapon, the man was overpowered and arrested. Officers recovered the knife from Sonnenpark, where the incident took place. The man was transported to a hospital for treatment following the arrest, and it was confirmed that his alcohol level was significantly positive. Officers also found tranquilizers on the man's person.

The woman, who had sustained minor injuries during the incident, was treated at the same hospital and has since been released. No further incidents were reported in the vicinity following the arrest.

While there is no mention of a specific court appearance related to this incident, it serves as a stark reminder of the importance of public safety and the role of law enforcement in maintaining peace and order in our communities.
