Alexei Navalny, Russia's most charismatic opposition leader for nearly a decade, tragically passed away in prison in February 2024. His sudden death has sparked widespread controversy, with top European officials and his widow, Yulia Navalnaya, accusing Vladimir Putin of being directly responsible for his demise.

In a video announcement, Yulia Navalnaya revealed that foreign laboratory tests on biological samples from her husband confirmed he was poisoned. The samples were obtained and transferred abroad in February 2024 and were examined by laboratories in two unnamed countries.

The results from these independent laboratories were unequivocal: Alexei Navalny was poisoned. The specific nerve agent used was not disclosed, but the findings have been described as an 'inconvenient truth' by Yulia Navalnaya.

Yulia Navalnaya has repeatedly insisted on a criminal investigation into what she considers her husband's murder. She demands the laboratories release their findings to the public, considering them of great importance.

The Russian investigators have claimed that Navalny died from a 'combination of diseases,' a claim that Yulia Navalnaya has rejected outright. She maintains that Putin is responsible for her husband's death and has implored everyone to demand the truth.

Anonymous U.S. intelligence sources, as cited by AP and The Wall Street Journal, have not found a smoking gun pointing to Putin's direct involvement in Navalny's death. However, they did not dispute his ultimate responsibility.

Alexei Navalny was put into a medically induced coma after being poisoned with the nerve agent Novichok in August 2020. He recovered in Germany but was immediately arrested upon returning to Moscow in 2021.

Yulia Navalnaya's team will continue to conduct its own independent inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Alexei Navalny's death. She has stated that everyone deserves to know the truth and that the laboratory findings should be made public for the sake of justice.
