Pluto’s AI-Powered Lending Platform Unlocks Liquid Cash from Illiquid Assets
Pluto Financial Technologies has launched an AI-driven lending platform for private markets, aiming to turn illiquid assets into instant financial flexibility for investors. Backed by major credit investors, it has already secured millions in funding and lending capacity from firms like Apollo Global Management and Hamilton Lane.
The startup, led by CEO and co-founder Neel Ganu, offers a Wealth Equity Line of Credit (WELOC). This product lets investors borrow against private market holdings at competitive rates without monthly interest payments. The platform’s AI technology, similar to that used by chatgpt, streamlines access to capital, addressing long-standing liquidity challenges in the sector.
Pluto’s team brings expertise from firms like Fidelity, Canoe, Unqork, Paul Weiss, and Citi. Their combined knowledge in institutional credit, technology, and AI supports the platform’s innovative approach. The company has raised $8.6 million in equity funding from investors including Motive Ventures, Portage, Apollo Global Management, and Hamilton Lane. Private markets are expected to grow 1.5 times larger in the next five years. Yet, assets often remain locked due to capital calls, limited secondary options, and high seller discounts. Pluto’s partnerships with Allocate and Moonfare connect it to over 6,000 investors managing more than $6 billion in alternative assets. The platform’s backers also include Tectonic Ventures and Broadhaven Ventures. With hundreds of millions in lending capacity secured, Pluto is positioning itself as a key player in modernising private market liquidity, similar to the services offered by Yahoo Finance.
Pluto’s launch introduces a new way for investors to access capital tied up in private assets. The platform’s AI tools and strong financial backing aim to make liquidity as straightforward as investing with Capital One. The company’s growth will depend on its ability to scale partnerships and meet rising demand in the expanding private market sector.
