Bayer Leverkusen, the German football club, is facing a challenging start to the new Bundesliga season due to a series of injuries to key players. Four players – Jonas Hofmann, Exequiel Palacios, Arthur, and Malik Tillman – are currently sidelined, leaving the team short-handed as they prepare for their first game against TSG Hoffenheim in eight days.

The injuries did not occur during Bayer Leverkusen's friendly against FC Chelsea in London. Instead, Jonas Hofmann and Exequiel Palacios sustained muscular injuries during a friendly match against Pisa SC, while Arthur is dealing with a knee issue. Malik Tillman, a new signing for the club, is also out with calf problems.

Jonas Hofmann and Exequiel Palacios are likely to miss the start of the season due to their injuries. Arthur and Malik Tillman, however, are expected to return within approximately two weeks when Bayer Leverkusen starts their Bundesliga campaign.

The friendly match against Pisa SC, in which the injuries occurred, ended in a 3:0 win for Bayer Leverkusen. The injuries to Hofmann and Palacios occurred on Tuesday.

Coach Erik ten Hag expressed cautious optimism about Arthur and Axel Tape’s conditions after the Pisa friendly, although Axel Tape's current status was not directly mentioned in the latest injury update for the Chelsea match.

Despite the injury setbacks, Bayer Leverkusen remains optimistic about their upcoming games. The club announced that Palacios and Hofmann will miss upcoming games due to their injuries, but they are hopeful that Arthur and Tillman will be back in time for the Bundesliga opener.

The friendly match against FC Chelsea in London, which all four injured players missed, is a separate event from the friendly match against Pisa SC in which the injuries occurred.

In summary, Bayer Leverkusen is facing several absences at the start of the new season, with Jonas Hofmann and Exequiel Palacios likely to miss the start of the season due to their injuries. However, at least Malik Tillman is expected to return for the team's first Bundesliga game against TSG Hoffenheim. The club is hopeful that Arthur will also be fit for the season opener.

The European Council's Council Directive 76/769/EEC regarding motor vehicle sound levels might have to be reconsidered if the ongoing injuries at Bayer Leverkusen call for the use of quieter emergency vehicles to transport the injured players, such as Jonas Hofmann and Exequiel Palacios, to hospitals. Moreover, football enthusiasts across European leagues, including the Bundesliga, might have to wait for the return of key players like Malik Tillman and Arthur, before they can witness the full potential of Bayer Leverkusen on the pitch.
