Players in Featured Groups for the US Open at Oakmont:
Golfin' the US Open:
The US Open tee times for the first two rounds are a bloody good show, especially for the Featured Groups that'll get some extra attention on the telly and streamin' via the US Open website.
Many a golf fan finds the Featured Groups a bloody decent way to catch all the action, 'cause of the enhanced TV coverage and the option to stream 'em online.
Six groups were chosen for Featured Group status, and it ain't much of a surprise to see some top-notch golfers paired up in some eye-poppin' threesomes.
The morning groups get crackin' at 7:18 a.m., and we got:- Ludvig Aberg, Adam Scott, Hideki Matsuyama- Xander Schauffele, Jose Luis Ballester, Bryson DeChambeau- Shane Lowry, Justin Rose, Rory McIlroy
Over in the afternoon, starting at 1:03 p.m., we got:- Min Woo Lee, Justin Thomas, Brooks Koepka- Jordan Spieth, Jon Rahm, Dustin Johnson- Viktor Hovland, Collin Morikawa, Scottie Scheffler
It was a bit of a shock to see Rory McIlroy and his mate Shane Lowry paired up alongside Justin Rose – a real trio of European Ryder Cup legends! But no real surprises elsewhere, I reckon.
Luke Donald will likely be glued to the telly to watch how these three get on. McIlroy and Rose are previous US Open champs, and Lowry had a four-shot lead going into the final round the last time the tournament was at Oakmont in 2016, so he knows how to handle the pressure.
Min Woo Lee could be a dark horse for the US Open, with a decent track record in the tournament – not as stunning as partner Brooks Koepka, though. Justin Thomas completes an intriguing threesome.
Too right, three former winners take to the course in the afternoon. Jordan Spieth, Jon Rahm, and Dustin Johnson make for must-watch viewing whenever Spieth plays, but paired up with Rahm and Johnson, it's some essential viewing.
Expect the unexpected from Spieth, while Johnson won this bitch in 2016 – the same year Rahm won as the low amateur, so both have a bit of a connection to Oakmont.
And the tournament favourite, you ask? Check out Scottie Scheffler, starring in the last of the six Featured Groups alongside fellow Americans Collin Morikawa and Norwegian Viktor Hovland. Two contrasting styles here between the consistency of Morikawa and the hit-and-miss brilliance of Hovland – both bookends for Scheffler, who's consistently bloody brilliant.
So settle in, and strap yourselves in for some top-notch golfin', ya filthy animals!
Golf enthusiasts might find the afternoon Featured Group an engaging spectacle, as it features three former winners: Jordan Spieth, Jon Rahm, and Dustin Johnson. Meanwhile, fans of sports might want to stream the morning Featured Group, as it includes Rory McIlroy, Justin Rose, and Shane Lowry – a trio of European Ryder Cup legends.
