Players Eliminated Prior to the Weekend at The Memorial Tournament

After the initial round, it seemed like Justin Thomas would've made the cut, but a score of 69 in the second round left him scraping by at 5 over.

Thomas, a seasoned PGA Tour winner with 16 victories under his belt, found himself three strokes away from the cut line with just five holes remaining. But Thomas relishes a challenge, and he showcased his grit by birdieing holes 14 and 15. On the par-4 18th, he drained a 7-footer to keep his hopes alive, just about making the cut.

Alongside Thomas, Hideki Matsuyama, Wyndham Clark, Cameron Young, and Matt Fitzpatrick also barely managed to make it through.

Regrettably, other players, despite their best efforts, won't be advancing to compete in the seventh Signature Event of the season.

Some well-known golfers who missed the Memorial cut include Sahith Theegala, Daniel Berger, and former Open champion, Brian Harman.

Only the top 50 and those tied made it through to the weekend. Here are the 15 players who missed the cut at the 2025 Memorial Tournament:

  • Matthieu Pavon +6
  • J.J. Spaun +6
  • Matti Schmid +6
  • Chris Kirk +7
  • Sahith Theegala +7
  • Christiaan Bezuidenhout +8
  • Aaron Rai +9
  • Joe Highsmith +9
  • Daniel Berger +9
  • J.T. Poston +9
  • Brian Harman +10
  • Lucas Glover +11
  • Byeong Hun An +11
  • Cam Davis +12
  • Brian Campbell WD

With attention now shifting towards defending champion World No.1 Scottie Scheffler, we'll see if he can pull off another win. The American, who claimed his third Major title at the PGA Championship earlier in May, trails the lead by just three strokes, currently held by Nick Taylor and Ben Griffin.

The tee times for the third round of the Memorial Tournament have been set, and Scheffler is setting his sights on a potential third title of the year as he tees off in the penultimate group alongside Akshay Bhatia.

Justin Thomas, who barely made the cut with a score of 5 over, and Matt Fitzpatrick also experienced a similar struggle to advance. Unfortunately, some established golfers like Sahith Theegala, Daniel Berger, and former Open champion, Brian Harman, missed the Memorial cut.
