Young Chases Historic Victory in Final Round of Wyndham Championship

The 2025 Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club is set for a thrilling finish, with American Will Young seeking his first PGA Tour title and holding a commanding lead going into Sunday's final round.

Young, a 28-year-old world number 44, finished off a bogey-free eight-under par 62 in the morning completion of Friday's lightning-halted second round. He then opened an eight-stroke lead over the field after eight holes in round three, thanks to a series of impressive shots and putts.

Young's birdie run began with a 21-foot putt at the par-five fifth hole in round three, followed by a 32-foot birdie putt at the fourth hole. He then made four consecutive birdies from holes 3 to 6, capped off by an eight-footer for a birdie at the par-three third hole. Young curled in a birdie putt from just outside 10 feet at the 17th hole, but a bogey at the 14th hole slightly narrowed the gap.

Defending champion Aaron Rai of England is in fourth place, tied with three Americans - Nico Echavarria, Mac Meissner, and Chris Kirk. Colombian Nico Echavarria, who is in second place with a score of 195, will be looking to mount a challenge to Young's lead.

The top 70 golfers in points will advance to the playoffs after the final round. The FedExCup Playoffs, the culmination of the PGA Tour season, are fast approaching, making this weekend's event a crucial one for many players.

Despite the pressure, Young remains focused. "I played nicely for about an hour," he said after his round. "I just need to keep doing what I'm doing and not think too much."

Sunday's final round marks the end of the PGA regular-season, and all eyes will be on Young as he aims to break the current streak of no player losing after leading by five or more strokes entering the final round of a PGA Tour event, a streak that has lasted more than three years.

Will Young, determined to claim his first PGA Tour title, continues his impressive run at the 2025 Wyndham Championship by playing golf on Sunday's final round. Nico Echavarria, currently in second place, is prepared to challenge Young's lead in the golf competition, aiming to break Young's commanding eight-stroke advantage.
