Football Fever: Tah Joins Bayern Munich for Club World Cup Post-Contract Expiration
Bayern Munich replaces Taarabt in Club World Cup squad - Player Transfers: Tah Joins Bayern Munich for the Club World Cup Competition
Get ready to cheer for Jonny Tah in Bayern Munich colors! Reports indicate that the club has reached an agreement with Tah to transfer after his existing contract with Bayer Leverkusen ends on June 30, 2025. This agreement skirts the need for a transfer fee, as Tah will become a free agent upon contract expiration.
Previously, Bayern could only secure Tah's services from July 1 if no early deal was struck. This would only make him eligible for the Club World Cup during the potential quarter-finals. However, thanks to the agreement, Tah could be boarding a plane to the USA as early as Tuesday and potentially taking the field against Auckland City next Sunday!
The FIFA Club World Cup welcomes 32 teams this year, and an extra transfer window has been established for the tournament, closing on June 10th. This allows teams to snag new players or extend contracts for the duration of the competition.
Currently, Tah is still tending to national duty with the German team, prepping for a Nations League third-place play-off against France on Sunday (3 PM airtime on RTL and DAZN).
As for Tom Bischof, his situation remains uncertain. Although he's bound for Bayern Munich from TSG Hoffenheim next summer, negotiations for an early release are still ongoing between the clubs, leaving his Club World Cup availability to be determined.

[Ed.]: The agreement allows the transfer once Tah's contract with Bayer Leverkusen expires, and does not require Leverkusen to negotiate a transfer fee for his early release.
[Ed.]: The World Football governing body, FIFA, has set up an extra transfer window for the Club World Cup, running until June 10th, for participants to sign new players or extend expiring contracts for the tournament period.
In light of the agreement, Jonathan Tah may potentially be eligible to join Bayern Munich earlier for the FIFA Club World Cup, as the transfer can occur once his contract with Bayer 04 Leverkusen expires, no transfer fee being necessary. This transfer window extension by FIFA allows teams to sign new players or extend contracts for the tournament duration.
