Mississippi Delta Community College Mourns Loss of Student-Athlete Emanuell Cooks

In a statement released on Friday, Dr. Stephen Vacik, President of Hinds Community College, expressed his condolences for the death of Emanuell Cooks, a freshman offensive lineman at Mississippi Delta Community College. Cooks passed away following a game on Thursday night in Raymond, Mississippi.

Cooks, a 6-foot-5, 340-pound athlete from Elba, Alabama, played in each game for Mississippi Delta Community College since the beginning of the season. The college community is deeply saddened by his loss.

Dr. Vacik extended his thoughts and prayers to Cooks' family, the entire Mississippi Delta Community College team, faculty, staff, and administration. He also emphasized the importance of player safety over game outcomes, stating that the loss of a student-athlete in the prime of their life is a sobering reminder of the preciousness of life.

The game in which Cooks participated was played against Hinds Community College, with the latter emerging victorious with a score of 48-0. Despite the loss, the school and community are coming together to support each other through this tragedy.

Mississippi Delta Community College is located in Moorhead, Mississippi, and currently has an 0-4 record. The school is scheduled to host Itawamba Community College next Thursday.

Dr. Steven Jones, President of Mississippi Delta Community College, also expressed his condolences for Cooks' death and called for support for his family, teammates, coaches, and friends. He urged everyone to remember Cooks for his strength, determination, and the positive impact he had on the community.

Dr. Vacik also called for support for Cooks' family, teammates, coaches, and friends, asking everyone to keep them in their thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. He concluded by saying that Cooks' memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched.
