In a disappointing turn of events, Caitlin Clark, the star player of the Indiana Fever, will be unable to participate in this weekend's WNBA All-Star Game and the 3-Point contest due to a groin injury.

Clark's injury occurred during the final minute of the Fever's 85-77 win over the Connecticut Sun on Tuesday. The incident took place as she completed a bounce pass to Kelsey Mitchell, after which she walked off the court visibly upset, holding the inside of her right leg. Clark was later seen sitting on the bench with a towel over her head, looking emotional.

The injury appears to be on the right side of Clark's groin, a different location from her previous left groin injury. Clark plans to have her current injury evaluated, and her status for the Fever's upcoming games remains uncertain.

The Fever have struggled without Clark this season, with a record of 5-5 in games she has missed. However, the team has recently experienced a resurgence, winning three consecutive games, improving their record to 12-10.

Clark's absence will undoubtedly be felt, as she is averaging 16.5 points, 8.8 assists, and 5.0 rebounds per game this season. Her performance on Tuesday was subpar, scoring 14 points on 4-of-14 shooting, including 1-of-7 from three.

Despite her absence, Clark was named a captain for Saturday's All-Star Game and earlier it was announced she would take part in Friday's three-point contest. The Fever will play the New York Liberty in the second leg of a back-to-back on Wednesday.

Caitlin Clark's injury history this season has been a significant challenge for the Indiana Fever. Prior to this latest injury, she had been sidelined for five games in May and June due to a left quad strain, and for a two-week period in late June and early July with a groin injury on her left side.

The Fever head coach, Stephanie White, reported that Clark "just felt a little something in her groin" after the injury. The team will hope for a speedy recovery for their star player, who has been instrumental in their success this season.

In light of the injury sustained by Caitlin Clark during a recent game, she will unfortunately miss both the WNBA All-Star Game and the 3-Point contest, events she was originally set to participate in. The Fever's continuous struggles without their star player are evident, as they have a record of 5-5 in games she has missed.
