"Plans outlined by Ed Sheeran for a potential posthumous album featuring early Beatles recordings from a 16-year-old Paul McCartney, spanning up to the top-tier tracks of his career, have been revealed due to Sheeran's will stipulation"
Ed Sheeran, the Suffolk-raised singer-songwriter who identifies culturally as Irish, has made a shocking revelation about his future music plans. In a new interview with Zane Lowe on Apple Music 1, Sheeran announced that he is planning a posthumous release titled 'Eject'.
'Eject' is intended to be a collection of songs from the age of 18 until Sheeran's death. The singer compared the concept of 'Eject' to hypothetical early Beatles recordings that could potentially be released posthumously by Paul McCartney. Sheeran did not confirm whether 'Eject' would be his last album in the traditional sense, as he stated that 'Eject' would be in his will.
Sheeran's wife, Cherry Seaborn, will be responsible for selecting the final tracks from hundreds he wrote since his youth. The singer mentioned that 'Eject' would consist of the 10 best songs from his entire career. The title 'Eject' may have a significant meaning in Sheeran's career, potentially similar to Jay-Z's The Black Album.
Sheeran has also suggested that 'Eject' would not be his final album, as he said 'Stop' would come before it. The singer plans to take a long time to create his album titled 'Stop', which he did not confirm if it would be his final album.
Intriguingly, Sheeran's album titles follow a pattern related to the functions of a cassette recorder. His latest album, 'Play', was released today, and 'Eject' is the next in this series. Sheeran has also mentioned 'Rewind', 'Pause', and 'Fast Forward' as potential future album titles.
It's worth noting that Jay-Z, like many pop stars and rappers, has a history of going back on retirement claims. Jay-Z has released eight albums since The Black Album, which was described as not being his 'last album'. However, Sheeran stated that he still has plenty of time to reconsider or change his career plans, as he is only 34 years old.
Ed Sheeran mentioned that he would like to discuss song selection for a potential greatest hits album with his wife, Cherry, indicating that he may have more music up his sleeve before 'Eject' and 'Stop' are released. The music world eagerly awaits more updates from the talented singer-songwriter.
