Plans for a posthumous album of early Beatles recordings, including some from 16-year-old Paul McCartney, as well as the top 10 songs from his entire career, have allegedly been set forth in Ed Sheeran's will.
Ed Sheeran, the 34-year-old British singer-songwriter from Suffolk, has announced exciting plans for his music career. In a recent interview, Sheeran revealed that he is working on two new albums, 'Eject' and 'Stop'.
Sheeran's upcoming album, 'Eject', is themed around the buttons on a cassette recorder, following the math-related album titles that Sheeran is known for. According to Sheeran, 'Eject' will consist of the best songs from his career, starting from the age of 18. Interestingly, Sheeran's wife, Cherry Seaborn, will be responsible for selecting tracks for 'Eject'.
Sheeran's statement about 'Eject' should be taken with a grain of salt, as he may change his mind or continue making music. However, he has stipulated in his will that after his death, a posthumous album titled "Eject" will be released, containing the ten best songs he wrote from the age of 18 until his death. No specific titles have been announced publicly yet.
Sheeran also discussed his plans for 'Stop', which he envisions as his final album. Sheeran compares the concept of 'Stop' to Jay-Z's The Black Album, hinting at a potential retirement after its release. However, like Jay-Z, Sheeran may not stick to his plan and may release more albums in the future.
Sheeran intends to put careful thought and attention into the creation of 'Stop'. He plans to discuss song selection for 'Stop' with his wife, Cherry, throughout his life. The singer also mentioned potential future albums themed around the concepts of 'Rewind', 'Pause', and 'Fast Forward'.
In the meantime, Sheeran's new album 'Play' is the latest in his series of albums themed around cassette recorder buttons. 'Play' is being released today. Leaving Ed Sheeran at the age of 34, there is still plenty of time for him to reconsider or change his career plans.
Pop stars and rappers, including Jay-Z, have a history of going back on their word about retiring. So, while Sheeran's plans for 'Stop' being his final album are intriguing, fans might find the potential release of early Beatles recordings by Paul McCartney posthumously or the potential future albums themed around 'Rewind', 'Pause', and 'Fast Forward' super-interesting. Stay tuned for more updates on Ed Sheeran's music career!
