Pixar's newest trailer for Elio amplifies the sense of nostalgia
Pixar, the acclaimed animation studio behind beloved films like Toy Story and The Incredibles, has announced a new addition to its roster. The film, titled Elio, is scheduled to hit theatres on June 13, 2025, following the success of Inside Out 2.
First announced at D23 Expo in 2022, Elio promises an exciting and unique storyline. The plot revolves around a young boy who longs to be abducted by aliens, only to find himself in a position to save the world instead.
The film's directors, Madeline Sharafian, Domee Shi, and Adrian Molina, have crafted a captivating narrative that blends elements of science fiction and heartfelt emotion. Initially, Molina started directing the project alone, but later left, with Sharafian and Shi taking over together.
The trailer for Elio, recently released, showcases a nostalgic 1980s atmosphere, reminiscent of classic films like Explorers, The Last Starfighter, and E.T. The new trailer focuses more on the Earth side of the story, promising a dose of nostalgia for viewers.
Elio boasts a diverse cast, featuring Yonas Kibreab, Zoe Saldaña, Remy Edgerly, Brad Garrett, Jameela Jamil, and Shirley Henderson. The film's diverse cast and intriguing plot have generated much anticipation among fans.
Originally slated for a March 2024 release, the date for Elio has been moved to June 13, 2025. Pixar enthusiasts can look forward to this exciting new addition to the studio's repertoire, as they eagerly await the release of Toy Story 5 and Incredibles 3, both of which are also in the pipeline for future releases.
