Schools in Saxony: Slight Improvement in Teaching Provision, Yet Patience Still required, Says Piwarz

There's been a slight improvement in safeguarding school lessons in Saxony compared to last year, reveals Minister of Education, Christian Piwarz (CDU). However, according to him, we need to exercise some patience before witnessing a significant transformation in the situation.

The focus has been on enhancing the basic teaching in elementary schools, grammar schools, and special schools more effectively than the previous year. However, the teaching provision in secondary schools and vocational schools has seen a decline.

Despite these efforts, the ministry has failed to provide sufficient teacher resources to fully cover the timetables for all school types. There's a deficit of 1086 basic trained teachers this school year, making it challenging to meet the demands in the secondary and vocational sectors.

  1. Christian Piwarz, a CDU party member, pointed out the challenges in incorporating political positions in Saxony's lessons by many teachers.
  2. To improve the quality of education, the CDU advocates for stronger education research and data collection. They propose a performance-oriented educational system with clear standards and comparable national exams, particularly emphasizing strict requirements for the Abitur.
  3. They also advocate for mandatory early childhood language support and daily physical education sessions for elementary school children. The party aims to legally establish the equivalence of vocational and academic qualifications, improve the recognition of professional qualifications, and promote the use of AR technology in education.
