Pistorius Makes His Way to the MPK East Location
Next Thursday, the East German premiers' conference will take place at Schloss Ettersburg near Weimar, with Thuringia holding the chairmanship. The focus of the meeting is on the industrial sector, specifically in the area of security, as Thuringia's Minister-President Mario Voigt (CDU) and other regional leaders aim to bundle industrial competencies and move the east forward sustainably.
The meeting will be attended by Federal Chancellor Friedrich Merz (CDU), the federal government's commissioner for the east, Elisabeth Kaiser (SPD), and Saxony's Minister-President Michael Kretschmer, among others. The round of heads of government will discuss ways to strengthen the east in security policy, with a particular emphasis on the industrial sector.
Michael Kretschmer, the CDU politician, has proposed an East Germany component in the awarding of contracts to boost the economy in Saxony. Similarly, Thuringia aims to connect high-tech, research, and industry to strengthen the local economy. The Minister-President of Thuringia, Mario Voigt, has mentioned the "Zeitenwende" as an opportunity to bundle industrial competencies in the area of security.
Elisabeth Kaiser, SPD, emphasizes strengthening the East in security policy during the Minister-President conference at Schloss Ettersburg, supporting the "Zeitenwende" as an opportunity to bundle industrial competencies in security, consistent with promoting economic and defense structures in East Germany.
In addition to Pistorius, Saxony's Minister-President Michael Kretschmer has called for targeted support from the federal government for the east. The meeting is intended to be part of efforts to strengthen the east in security policy, and it will take place in Erfurt, Thuringia.
The meeting with the Federal Defense Minister also includes the participation of Saxony-Anhalt, Berlin, Brandenburg, and Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The conference is a significant step towards strengthening the east and fostering collaboration between the federal states in the area of security and the economy.
