Pirna selects a new municipal leader
Get ready for a change in the ol' town of Pirna! Today's the day they elect a new mayor for the next seven years, and five talented folk want the job.
Kathrin Dollinger-Knuth is the CDU's pick, while Ralf Thiele waves the flag for the Free Voters. Tim Lochner earned the nod from the AfD, and the SPD and Greens have teamed up behind Ralf Wätzig. Last but not least, Andre Liebscher's running as an independent.
The current mayor, Klaus-Peter Hanke, is taking a well-deserved rest and won't be running again. If no contender snags a majority in the first round, a second round will shake things up on December 17.
