Pirates chase first playoff berth in over a decade with revamped roster

The Pittsburgh Pirates are aiming for their first playoff appearance in over a decade. After years without postseason success, the team has made bold moves in the offseason to strengthen its roster. Their 2025 campaign begins with high expectations and a challenging schedule. The Pirates kick off the season on March 28 with an away game against the New York Mets. Their first home series follows shortly after, hosting the Baltimore Orioles from April 3-5.

In June, they will face the Los Angeles Dodgers at home from June 9-11. The second half of the season starts with road trips against the Cleveland Indians and New York Yankees.

August will be demanding, featuring 18 away games. Before the All-Star Break, Pittsburgh wraps up with six home matches against the Atlanta Braves and Milwaukee Brewers.

A key stretch arrives in September, when the Pirates play nine consecutive home games. Opponents include the Brewers, Kansas City Royals, and St. Louis Cardinals. The regular season concludes with three road games against the Detroit Tigers from September 25-27. The Pirates have invested heavily in new talent, signing Ryan O'Hearn and Marcell Ozuna while trading for Brandon Lowe and Jhostynxon Garcia. Their schedule includes tough road tests and crucial home stands. The team's performance will determine whether they break their long playoff drought.
