Update: Following the incident on Wednesday evening, a Ryanair spokesperson has provided an update. The flight to Memmingen was diverted due to air turbulence, and the captain requested medical assistance for the passengers. Seven passengers and one crew member were reported injured.[1][4][2] To swiftly get the passengers to their destination, Ryanair organized a nighttime replacement transport from Memmingen to Milan and a morning replacement flight.[1]

Stormy Skies Over Bavaria: Flights Face Challenges

Initial Report: Severe storms in southern Germany caused a passenger plane to experience significant turbulence late Wednesday evening (June 4th). The plane was forced to make an unscheduled landing at Memmingen Airport.[1]

The emergency landing in Swabia was warranted due to seven injured individuals on board.[1] Elsewhere in the region, the storm resulted in various issues: in Ulm, several houses became uninhabitable due to the weather's impact.[2]

According to police reports, the troubled plane was a Ryanair flight with 179 passengers and six crew members en route from Berlin to Milan.[1] During the flight, the plane encountered such volatile weather conditions that eight passengers and one crew member were injured. [1]

Three individuals were hospitalized: a two-year-old child had minor bruises, a woman sustained a head wound, and another passenger complained of back pain.[2] Local media previously suggested that passengers were tossed against the ceiling during the turbulence.[2] There were reports that there was no continuous announcement for passengers to fasten their seat belts, but Ryanair has not yet released a statement regarding the incident.[1]
