Philippines to Wow Frankfurt Book Fair 2025 as Guest of Honor
The Philippines is set to captivate audiences at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2025 as the Guest of Honor. Kicking off the event, the Philippines will present 'LIWALIW', an exhibition and workshops focused on Philippine art, history, culture, and illustrators at the Kulturforum Hanau from October 11 to 20, 2025.
The exhibition, curated by Dr. Anika Meier, will showcase works by prominent Philippine illustrators Danielle Florendo, Beth Parrocha, Liza Flores, and Randy Valiente. It will be open Monday to Friday from 10:00 to 20:00 and Saturday from 11:00 to 18:00, offering ample time for visitors to explore the rich cultural display.
The exhibition will be inaugurated on October 11 at 2 pm by HE Irene Susan B. Natividad, Marie Yvette L. Banzon Abalos, and Beate Funck. Accompanying the exhibition will be sound installations titled 'Tunog-Tao', bringing the joy of LIWALIW to life.
Workshops will be held for different age groups, delving into local flora and fauna, mythology, and comic culture. The project is led by the National Book Development Board (NBDB) of the Philippines, with the theme 'The Imagination Peoples the Air'.
The 'LIWALIW' exhibition and workshops promise to be a vibrant celebration of Philippine art, history, and culture. Mark your calendars for October 11 to 20, 2025, at the Kulturforum Hanau to experience the Philippines as the Guest of Honor at the Frankfurt Book Fair 2025.
